Die Klassifikation sagt es ausdrücklich: „During a cluster period in 3.1.1 Episodic cluster headache, and at any time in 3.1.2 Chronic cluster headache, attacks occur regularly and may be provoked by alcohol, histamine or nitroglycerin.“<ref name="ICHD31">[https://ichd-3.org/3-trigeminal-autonomic-cephalalgias/3-1-cluster-headache/ ICHD-3, 3.1 Cluster headache], Kommentar, am 22.09.2026 gelesen: „About 10-15% of patients have 3.1.2 Chronic cluster headache, without such remission periods.“ und „During a cluster period in 3.1.1 Episodic cluster headache, and at any time in 3.1.2 Chronic cluster headache, attacks occur regularly and may be provoked by alcohol, histamine or nitroglycerin.“</ref>
